Creative Collabs | Puma x Sesame Street

Favorite childhood characters get their time to shine on what would otherwise be understated streetwear staples.

90’s nostalgia is back in full force and on display in the Puma x Sesame Street streetwear collection. The baseline of this product offering is understated – the core colors are a simple black, grey and white. But things take a cheeky turn when colorful, poppy velour characters are added on top of otherwise simple crewnecks, track jackets and joggers.

Since this is Puma, a sneaker staple in anyone’s closet, of course a favorite silhouette also came into consideration when designing a fun, chat-worthy product offering. The Basket, one of Puma’s classics dating back to the 60s, was reinvented with fabrics made just for the Sesame Street Collection. On the black/white and white/black iterations, the full crew (Cookie Monster, Bert, Ernie, Oscar the Grouch) lend their likenesses to the sneakers, but the big guy in blue and Elmo also got specialty sneakers.

One of our favorites in the line up is no doubt the simple cotton tees available in a rainbow of colors. Each features a very simple, small graphic at the upper left corner, but turn around, and a full back print allows these delightful characters to make a statement. Of the seven available for your consideration, we recommend the black, which has a Sesame Street sign logo on front, along with a small square branding at the hem, but on the back, all our friends in a black-on-black screenprint.
