Back in April, Fox announced its plans to adapt the comic book series, “Axe Cop”  into an animated series for the network’s upcoming Animation Domination HD Saturday night lineup in 2013.

Created by Ethan Nicolle and his then five year old brother, Malachai; “Axe Cop” debuted in 2010 as a web comic that features an axe wielding police officer as he takes on zombies, robots, aliens and other bizarre creatures.Ethan Nicolle provides the art and elaborates on the stories created by his younger brother, Malachai. Dark Horse Comics currently publishes the printed version of “Axe Cop.”

Although the “Axe Cop” animated series isn’t expected to debut until Summer 2013, Fox and ADHD have released a test clip for the show based upon one of the “Ask Axe Cop” shorts from the comic. And in the clip, the title character has a voice that sounds suspiciously like comedian and actor, Nick Offerman; who is best known for playing Ron Swanson on “Parks and Recreation.”

Thus far, there is no confirmation from Fox that Offerman has been cast in the “Axe Cop” animated series or that his voice was used in this clip.

The first season of “Axe Cop” will consist of six episodes that will be approximately 15 minutes long; which seems to emulate the Adult Swim model.
