NFL Tweets of the Week: Week 7

There was plenty said this weekend, even though many teams were enjoying their bye week.

Early Monday morning, Oakland Raiders defensive end Andre Carter tweeted this:

A lovely day in the bay.

After what transpired on Sunday, it’s hard to argue with the former seventh overall pick.  The San Francisco Giants defeated the St. Louis Cardinals to force Game 7 in the National League Championship Series, while the Oakland Raiders squeaked out an overtime win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  It was a big win against a very beatable team and kept the Raiders in the mix of things in the AFC West – despite Oakland’s 2-4 record.

It wasn’t the only close game this weekend.  The New England Patriots managed to edge out the New York Jets in overtime 29-26 in what was arguably the best game of the weekend.  The win gave the Patriots sole possession of first place, as they once again beat their division rivals.  After the game, Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones tweeted:

Winner winner chicken dinner! ??

Jones and the rest of the Patriots might just want to treat Rob Gronkowski to a chicken dinner after how big he came up in the red zone for New England.  The Minnesota Vikings also enjoyed a big win – a 21-14 win over the Arizona Cardinals – but instead of a chicken dinner, offensive tackle Matt Kalil tweeted what he was eating after the game, saying:

Nothing like a nice steak after a great win!!!!

Not everyone was eating after their win on Sunday.  Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey had this to say after a big 24-17 win over the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals:

 T- Together E- Everyone A- Achieves M- More

Not quite Maurkice, it’s more like: T- Thank G- God F- For B- Big B- Ben.  He was pretty much the only reason your Steelers won that game.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pretty much lost because of the referees, thanks to a phantom penalty call on the game-tying touchdown as time expired.  Fans and players alike couldn’t believe it; just ask Bucs defensive end Da’Quan Bowers, who tweeted:

Man this I horse s*^*

He wasn’t the only one that wasn’t happy – as indicated by the grammatical mistake.  The Washington Redskins too weren’t happy, but it was more of a shock than anything when the New York Giants won the game on a quick touchdown pass as time was winding down in the fourth quarter.  Offensive tackle Tlyer Polumbus said it best:

Well that was a roller coaster of emotion

It was a tough loss, but if that game was any indication, there will be plenty more amazing games between these two teams in the future.  Eli Manning against Robert Griffin III makes us drool.  But sadly we will have to wait until week number 13.  For now, we’ll just wait to see what tweets lie ahead for next week.
