Strike Back” may be done for the year, but Cinemax is launching its next action series this Friday with “Hunted.”

Created by “The X-Files” executive producer, Frank Spotnitz; “Hunted” stars Melissa George — who starred in 30 Days of Night and was featured in ABC’s “Alias” — as Samantha Hunter, an espionage operative for a private intelligence agency.

When “Hunted” kicks off, Sam is targeted for assassination… perhaps by members of her own team, forcing her to wonder whom she can trust as she recovers. Before we kick off our exclusive scene from the series premiere, here’s a taste of some of the action to come as Sam fights for her life against her assailants.

Our exclusive clip from Cinemax picks up some time later, as Sam is undercover as a nanny in the household of millionaire Jack Turner (Patrick Malahide). In this scene, Sam and her bosses attempt to come up with a new strategy to prevent their enemies from reaching Turner first.

And finally the third clip reveals that Sam has been carrying on an affair with Aidan Marsh (Adam Rayner), one of her colleagues. But with someone out to kill her, is he someone that Sam can trust?

The synopsis from Cinemax goes a long way towards explaining what’s going on in the series. But you may want to skip it if you want to go in unspoiled.

Sam Hunter (Melissa George), an operative for the elite private intelligence and security firm Byzantium, is finishing a mission in Tangier when an attempt on her life leaves her critically injured. Not knowing who tried to kill her, she disappears to a remote location to recover, regroup and retrain.

Returning to work unannounced nearly a year later, Sam surprises her co-workers, who are suspicious about her disappearance, especially Aidan Marsh (Adam Rayner), her secret lover.

Her bosses, Rupert Keel (Stephen Dillane) and Deacon Crane (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), retain doubts about her, but need their best agent for an important new assignment. The team devises a plan to have Sam infiltrate a family headed by powerful millionaire Jack Turner (Patrick Malahide), a man with a criminal past whose ambitions are at odds with Byzantium’s secret client.

The Hunt begins this Friday, October 19 at 10pm, only on Cinemax!
