The first season finale of “American Horror Story” may have closed the book on the Murder House and the Harmon family, but at least one of the leading performers is set to return this season.

On twitter, series co-creator Ryan Murphy stated that he was “So thrilled to announce Dylan McDermott is returning to ‘American Horror Story’!” Further details about whom McDermott will play or when he will appear on “American Horror Story: Asylum” were left unannounced. But presumably McDermott will show up in at least one of the later episodes of the season.

Prior to starring as Ben Harmon in the first season of “American Horror Story,” McDermott was best known for his role as Bobby Donnell on “The Practice.” McDermott also had starring roles on “Dark Blue” and “The Grid” in addition to parts in several films including Hamburger Hill, In the Line of Fire, Steel Magnolias, The Campaign and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Also returning to “American Horror Story: Asylum” this season are Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe.

“American Horror Story: Asylum” debuts tonight at 10pm on FX.
