Weekend Spotlight

Yankees Down 2-0 in ALCS

With a shutout of the New York Yankees on Sunday, the Detroit Tigers take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of 7 American League Championship Series. With some great pitching, timely hitting and some calls going their way, the Tigers are just two wins shy of advancing to the World Series.

"I thought we hung in there and took advantage of a couple of things," Tigers Manager Jim Leyland said. "And those are some of the things you need in postseason play. You never know how it's going to play out."

New England Back to .500 With Loss to Seattle

It's almost like the rebirth of Tim Tebow in Seattle as another prolific rushing QB led his team from behind to shock a known powerhouse. With the Seahawks' 24-23 come from behind win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, Seattle improves to 4-2 while the Pats fall to 3-3. Scoring 14 points in the 4th, the Seahawks turned to their number 1 ranked defense to stop the Patriots' number 1 ranked offense in the waning minutes.

For this Sunday, it was defense that won out.

New York Giants Pummel San Francisco 49ers 26-3

In the battle of two of the best in the NFC, it was a lopsided effort as the New York Giants outplayed the San Francisco 49ers in almost every aspect of the game to walk away with an impressive win. The Giants turned to the ground to set things up and Ahmad Bradshaw delivered for 116 yards and a touchdown. For San Fran, it was a poor effort by starting QB Alex Smith that doomed them. Smith tossed for just 200 yards while throwing 3 costly interceptions that sealed the deal for the 49ers.

Looking Ahead

(MLB) NY Yankees at Detroit Tigers, Tuesday 8 pm TBS

It's Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday night when the Tigers and Yankees clash. Down 2-0, the Yankees need this game to get back into this series while the Tigers will be looking to put down baseballs best known team.

(NFL) Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers Thursday, 8:20 pm NFL Newtork

With the NFC West as competitive as ever, two of the three 4-2 teams in the division square off on Thursday night football. Coming off a tough loss, the 49ers will be looking to bounce back by clipping the wings off the Seahawks who are coming off a win.

(NFL) Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals, Sunday 8:20 pm NBC

With the season inching towards its halfway point, both the Bengals and the Steelers are looking to get their seasons on track for a playoff run. A loss by either team will put them in a position where they will have to fight hard to get out of. Expect a hard fought game when these two division rivals meet up.
