CBC And Discovery World Announce New Shows

Reality shows still popular choices for networks.

Programming that revolves around local business, classic cars, and hidden city infrastructure will all be taking to the airwaves on the CBC and Discovery World networks in the coming weeks.

"Classic Car Rescue" on Discovery World, debuting this coming Monday, looks at restoring six classic rides that have become beloved favourites to car aficionados – “the legendary style icon” Jaguar E-Type, “the standard of the world” Cadillac, “the greatest-ever sports car” Porsche 911, “the revolutionary” Mini Cooper, “the original rebel muscle car” Ford Mustang, and “the best-selling sports cars of the swinging ’60s” MGB Roadster. The six-part UK/Canadian co-production follows Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione as they search for bargain wrecks with great potential. It premieres on October 15th at 8pm.

Also on the network look for "Strip the City," where major sites like the CN Tower, Dubai's skyscrapers, and other iconic cityscapes are explored and looked at from "underneath," examining the secret technology and infrastructure that keeps them running. The new series will air on Friday, October 26th at 9pm.

Finally, another show not to be missed is CBC's "The Big Decision," starring dragons from "Dragons' Den" Jim Treliving and Arlene Dickinson. Each episode documents two Canadian businesses that are desperately in need of expert advice and a cash injection. With the banks calling in their loans and financers tightening their wallets, Jim and Arlene are their last hope.It begins Tuesday, October 16th at 9pm on CBC.
