UbiSoft's Splinter Cell has pretty much been a hit since the first installment appeared in 2002. The stealth-'em-up features NSA black ops agent Sam Fisher as the world's most invisible secret agent, even though his trifocal night vision goggles are apparently brighter than the fricking sun. It took them long enough, but now Hollywood wants in on the Splinter Cell action. Warner Bros. and Paramount are both working to acquire the rights to the game franchise for a feature film adaptation.
Deadline reports that Paramount is currently the frontrunner to adapt the video game series, which may have something to do with the fact that it's not just Splinter Cell… It's "Tom Clancy's" Splinter Cell. Paramount has been in the Tom Clancy business since 1990's The Hunt for Red October, producing each of the lucrative "Jack Ryan" movies, a franchise Kenneth Branagh is currently set to reboot with Chris Pine.
CraveOnline will be back with more Splinter Cell movie news after we check the perimeter.
