The Chávez Jr. vs. Lee world championship rumble will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing®, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
How does it feel to be back in Texas? What can you say about the fans here?
"I am very happy to return to Texas and especially to El Paso. The people have always supported me and I can feel how much they care for me. I want to give them a great fight, one that they will remember for a long time"
How was training camp? Any issues with you making weight?
"I had an excellent training camp. It started in Mexico and we finished in Las Vegas. It was one of the best camps I've had. We had some great sparring and the weight is coming off very well for this fight. There will always be some issues in any training camp but I feel that this was one of the best of my career"
Are you where you want to be in this stage of your career?
"I believe that at this stage of my career I am putting it all together. I now have the experience to deal with everything that might happen in the ring, and I think my last few fights have helped me to become a better fighter. What I need now is to follow Freddie's plan and make this fight one of my best"
What are your thoughts about your opponent?
"Andy Lee is a young, hungry fighter who wants what I have – a world title – so
sure I am concerned. I have to be."
"Andy Lee is young, a good fighter and he wants what I have – my world title. I trained in Las Vegas for this fight. Since last week, I have been training with Freddie Roach who is teaching me all about how to fight a lefthander. Boxing is my life – it means everything to me. I am not sure Andy Lee feels the same way."
