Methuselah: Badass Action Star?

The director of The Woman in Black will reimagine the biblical figure as an 1,000-year-old action hero.

If you read the Bible literally, Methuselah was a really, really old dude. 969-years-old, to be precise. And since that's kind of novelty, Hollywood has decided to turn Methuselah into a motion picture, to be directed by The Woman in Black's David Heyman. Oh, and it's an action movie. Because when you think "Methuselah," you think about explosions.

Variety reports that the script for Methuselah is getting a page-one rewrite from I Am Legend 2 writer Arash Amel, which means they had an earlier script and decided to pretty much throw it out and start afresh using just the basic concept. As such, we can't say exactly what direction Methuselah is going to take. All the report says for certain is that Methuselah will tell the story of "a 1,000-year-old man who has used his time on the planet to develop an unparalleled set of survival skills."

In the Bible, Methuselah died seven days before the mighty flood that swept away the evils of the mankind. God even postponed the great flood to properly mourn Methuselah's death, before Noah – Methuselah's grandson – went about his whole "ark" business. So at least the movie version of his life will have a big, epic finale. Unless they're going to turn him into the Highlander and bring Methuselah into the present day somehow. It sounds like a weird idea, but so does turning Methuselah into an action star, so we wouldn't put it past Hollywood at this point.

CraveOnline will be back with more Methuselah news in a thousand years or so.
