Thanks to Game Informer’s latest cover reveal, we now know Bethesda is officially working on an Elder Scrolls MMOPRG. The game is called The Elder Scrolls Online, and it’s being developed by Zenimax Online Studios.

It’s not hard to imagine what The Elder Scrolls Online will look like – take something like Skyrim, make it even bigger, and introduce social aspects. Presto!

The game will apparently introduce a whole new chapter to Elder Scrolls lore, one that takes place a millennium before Skyrim as “the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.”

"It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years," said game director Matt Firor to Game Informer. "The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

For more about The Elder Scrolls Online, head over to Game Informer’s website. You can also pick up the June issue of Game Informer for the full cover story.

Goodbye free time.

Update:

The game’s first teaser trailer has been released. Don’t go in expecting too much though. Like Skyrim before it, the teaser for TESO is pretty much just a narration overlaying an animated version of the game’s emblem seen above.
