See the New Dark Knight Rises Trailer!

Why wait for The Avengers when you can watch the latest trailer for Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie online?

"You don't owe these people any more. You've given them everything."

"Not everything. Not yet."

The third official trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises is finally here… and it's kind of hard to get excited about it this week. We've got Avengers fever and the cure is a big, bombastic blockbuster, but instead Christopher Nolan's giving us his dramatic conclusion to the Batman saga. It's full of important-sounding music and prison inmates doing backflips. Still not much more to go on than we had before, except that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is probably a bigger part of the movie than they let on (seriously, he's one of the primary focuses of the trailer) and that Bane appears to be easier to listen to. If they did some tweaking in response to the fan furor, they might have overdone it a bit. He sounds like he's in a nice comfy recording studio as opposed to the living, breathing world of The Dark Knight Rises. Then again, we didn't have a problem with his voice before, so maybe our hearing's too good for its own… well, good, we suppose.

And of course, premiering the trailer days before the touted theatrical premiere in front of The Avengers pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for promoting promotional campaigns as far as we're concerned. We begrudgingly reported on the announcement that the newest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises would be in front of this weekend's blockbuster, if only because it seemed like everyone was talking about it. And you kow what? It amounted to nothing. It's not like that news was even going to sell tickets. Maybe if they'd actually had the gumption to wait until the day after The Avengers premiered it would have added to the trailer's "event" status, but no, here it is. Enjoy. You'll see it again this weekend and it won't be special anymore.

So that's it. We're done. No more reporting on upcoming promotions, unless we're somehow, gun to our head, forced to. No teasers for Prometheus teasers, or anything like that. When the actual damned teaser, trailer, viral video or what have you comes out, there's a good chance you'll see it here at CraveOnline's Film Channel. (Like right now, for instance.) But we're taking a stand against announcements that announcements are on the way. It's an artificial means to extend a marketing campaign without actually doing any additional marketing. We're as excited for these movies as you are, but that love does not extend to the majority of these kinds of promotional campaigns.

But enough ranting. Enjoy the latest trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. We have no reason to suspect it won't completely rule.
