Valve is gearing up to release a free batch of downloadable content for Portal 2 that allows players to create their own puzzle maps and share them with the community via Steam. The free DLC, entitled the "Perpetual Testing Initiative," will release for PC and Mac over Steam on May 8th.
According to Valve, creating, sharing and playing user-created maps with be an easy process, as it will all be handled in-game as opposed to with an outside application. Players will also be able to peruse and vote on which maps they like best to make sorting the user-created content easier.
If you're a PC or Mac gamer, this sounds like the perfect opportunity to pick back up Portal 2. We know you've been looking for an excuse to revisit one of 2011's best games. It seems the replayability of Portal 2 just skyrocketed, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
No word on if this DLC is coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Portal 2.
