Katy Perry has had a busy few months (with both good and bad), and fans were elated when she was announced as a performer at the upcoming MuchMusic Video Awards, which will be held on June 17th.
She is the first performer to be revealed and it will be her second time taking the stage at the show. She appeared at the MMVAs back in 2010, turning the stage into her very own Candy Land with a yummy performance of her track "California Gurls" from her 2010 album "Teenage Dream."
Perry has had a rapid rise to stardom, starting with the release of her 2008 album "One of the Boys," which included the hit track "I Kissed A Girl" and became a saucy anthem for summer. In addition to her three studio albums she has also dabbled in some acting, starting with a gig on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" and recently appearing in such hit shows as "How I Met Your Mother," "Raising Hope," and the newly released big-screen project "The Muppets." She was the voice of "Smurfette" in last year's "The Smurfs" as well and reprises her, er, voice in "The Smurfs 2," which is scheduled to come out next year. With an American Music Award, three MTV VMAs, four Teen Choice Awards, and eight Grammy nods, this preacher's daughter will be ruling the airwaves for a long time to come.
Catch the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday, June 17 at 9pm EST at the MuchMusic headquarters in downtown Toronto. For updated info on other performances expected at the show, visit the network's official website www.muchmusic.com.
