When Tim Tebow basically chose to be traded to the New York Jets this offseason, he opened up a Pandora's box of potential media attention. While he received an ungodly amount of scrutiny in Denver and in Florida, being in the 'big apple' is like being in ground zero of a press nuke. The coverage, for lack of a better word, has been crazy for the young backup and thanks to controversial cheaters website AshleyMadison.com, the frenzy has just been extended to absurd.
The site, which openly promotes infidelity, has decided to put an open bounty on the one area of his life where he has accomplished nothing, his sex life.
In a somewhat attention driven move, the site has offered a $1 million bounty for anyone who can prove they have slept with the self-professed virgin. It's their thought that nobody could stay in the Big Apple and not get laid, even Tim Tebow.
According to AshleyMadison.com founder and CEO Noel Biderman, Tebow should embrace his status as a sex symbol.
“Sports and sex (and of course, infidelity) go hand in hand. If Mr. Tebow is indeed abstaining from adult relationships, I would encourage him to find a nice lady or two and enjoy his youth and fame as much as possible. We are beyond the days where pre-marital sex has a social stigma, and it is my hope that soon we will also feel the same about infidelity. I guarantee that no man of Tim Tebow’s stature could survive a season in New York without succumbing to the temptations of the city (i.e. pull a Brett Favre).”
This stunt isn't the first time the website has involved itself with the NFL. Earlier this year it posted a poll on whether women would rather sleep with New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning or New England Patriots QB Tom Brady. Like in their two previous Super Bowl meetings, Eli won this one by a slight margin, by endearing himself to the ladies for a 54-46% victory.
Also, back in 2010, the site tried unsuccessfully to attach its name to the then new home of the New York Giants. They put in a $25 million offer that was tactfully refused.
So, for now, the real question is if anyone will claim this bounty. My guess is no; but hey, life in the big apple can be very fast and loose, so you never know!
