Trent Richardson has earned two national championships, to go along with All-American and Heisman Trophy-finalist status in his three-year tenure at Alabama. He's projected to go fourth overall to the Cleveland Browns in the upcoming NFL draft the last week of April; but before he dances into the endzone in the NFL, he'll get to dance his way onto the floor of senior prom in the heart of Alabama.

Courtney Alvis is a 17-year-old Leukemia survivor from Hueytown, Al. that missed her junior prom due to complications with her treatment. After more than a year of therapy, she's back to a healthy pep and determined to make the dance her senior year; she's just had some minor concerns.

"I wasn't comfortable with my body and of course I didn't have long pretty hair to fix and also I didn't have a date," said Alvis.

As luck would have it, the senior's uncle had some connections at the University of Alabama and was able to spread his request asking that Richardson be his nieces date. Richardson heard word of it, and Courtney has been nothing but smiles since.

"I'm really excited but I'm also nervous," said Alvis. "I've watched Trent all the time on TV, and he's going to be coming to prom with me."

Courtney's mother, Stephanie, stated how great it has been seeing her daughter's confidence and health re-emerge.

"She's walking without a walker right now and she's planning on dancing Saturday night," Alvis' mother said. "You can't get any better than that."

No doubt Courtney will be having the time of her life on the dance floor, let's just hope that Alabama's biggest football star can keep up.
