Who Is The Man Who Will Kill Olivia on ‘Fringe’?

One of last year's dangling mysteries may soon be explored during the remaining episodes of season four.

Near the end of the third season of "Fringe," an episode called "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide" took place in the harrowing (and animated) mindscape of Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) as Walter Bishop (John Noble), his son Peter (Joshua Jackson) and William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) attempted to save her. Along the way, they were confronted by an enigmatic man on a Zeppelin with murderous intentions.

When Olivia later awakened, she couldn't identify who the man on the Zeppelin was, beyond a causal certainty that he would be the one to kill her. In the currently reconstructed events of the fourth season of "Fringe," those events may no longer have played out as we remember them. But the recent revelation that Olivia dies in all possible futures may have been a hint that this thread is about to be revisited.

When TVLIne asked about the so-called "Zeppelin Man" (who is portrayed by actor, Ulrich Thomsen), "Fringe" executive producer J.H. Wyman indicated that the show's writers have not forgotten him.

“We ourselves get frustrated with other shows that only ask questions and leave things up in the air and don’t really answer them," related Wyman. "So we really take pride in saying, ‘Look our drama is strong enough that we can actually answer the questions.’ Let’s just say that we’re going to try and get you satisfying conclusions for all those things that are up in the air.”

“You’ll learn a lot more about the Observers this year," continued Wyman. "And yes, you probably will understand a lot about that guy in the zeppelin.”

And although the future of "Fringe" was clouded by Fox President Kevin Reilly's comments at the TCA press tour, "Fringe" producer J.J. Abrams has indicated to TVLine that negotiations for the fifth season have begun, before adding “We remain hopeful that Fringe will be able to continue.”
