Max Payne 3 has a new official release date. Rockstar sent out a press release today confirming Max Payne 3 will launch in North America on May 15, 2012 (May 18, 2012 internationally) for Xbox 360 and PS3. The title will hit the PC platform roughly two weeks later on May 29th (June 1, 2012 internationally).

Max’s third adventure where he plays bodyguard in Sao Paulo, Brazil was originally intended for a March 2012 release, but that’s clearly out of the picture now. With the few extra months of development lead time, hopefully Rockstar can polish one of the most anticipated games of 2012 to a near perfect shine.

Just recently, Remedy Entertainment, the creators of Max Payne, said that Rockstar is doing “brilliant” things with the franchise in their absence. Rockstar might be pushing the Max Payne series in new, unexpected directions, but they’re apparently doing something right to earn the backing of the series’ original creators.

With a firm release date set for Max Payne 3, the question now remains: will you be buying it? Are you excited for more bullet time and depressing, metaphor-ridden monologues? Sound off below to let us know.
