Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has revealed that the first wave of downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will roll out in January 2012. Call of Duty Elite subscribers will get first dibs on January 24th. However, fans should not expect the typical 5-map map pack, but instead something a little more diverse.

While talking on the Call of Duty Elite “Roll Call” show (Elite premium subscription required), Bowling mentioned that the first DLC pack for MW3 will contain a handful of multiplayer maps on top missions for Spec Ops mode, as well as “a variety of things that players have never seen before.” Players will also be able to choose how they snag their DLC, whether in smaller content drops or in one fell swoop.

In addition to announcing the upcoming content, Bowling hit up Twitter to tweet a single image teasing one of the maps coming in the DLC pack, “Park.” You can see the screen below.

So get pumped for the first Modern Warfare 3 DLC pack in January of next year, deploying first for Xbox 360 and then following on PS3 and PC.
