Good news for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo fans: you don't have to wait quite as long to see David Fincher's adaptation of the best-selling novel and popular original film series. Sony Pictures announced today that potential Oscar-contender will open just a teensy bit early, for evening screenings on December 20th. Deadline had the scoop.
The movie is 100% understandable. December is a ridiculously crowded month for movie releases, since every studio and its mother are releasing their last-minute Oscar contenders and mainstream fare like Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked are vying for the blockbuster dollars to boot. Sony no doubt expects their star-studded adaptation of the enormously popular series to attract a big audience, but with The Adventures of Tintin threatening to get in their way on the 21st, they're probably eager to get a jump on the competition. Heck, Daniel Craig stars in both of those movies.
