Tom Wilkinson vs. ‘The Lone Ranger!’

The Batman Begins star is close to signing on as the big bad, and guess who else is coming along for the ride?

The Lone Ranger is finally back on track, and now, despite the delay, it looks like they're going to be able to keep the film's original cast. Ruth Wilson is still on board, reportedly, and Dwight Yoakam is apparently still in talks to join up. We were under the impression that Yoakam was going to be the film's big bad, but apparently that's not the case. Deadline reports that Tom Wilkinson is in talks to play the villainous Latham Cole.

Yeah, we're cool with that. Wilkinson's an incredible actor. Audiences probably know him best as Carmine Falcone from Batman Begins, but he's racked up a laundry list of impressive performances in films ranging from In the Bedroom, Michael Clayton, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and next week's release of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. If nothing else, we imagine he'll look quite dapper in a white suit, leaning over his bridle as he orders a group of mangy thugs – literally, since they're supposedly going to be werewolves in the movie – to kill Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp over the course of the film.

CraveOnline will be back with more Lone Ranger news after we take over Rebel Radio. Hmm… Too obscure?
