We’re in the midst of a slew of major gaming releases this holiday season like Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3 and Modern Warfare 3, but let’s not forget about one of the best games released from earlier this year: Portal 2. To make sure Portal 2 is still at the forefront of our collective conscious, Valve has made it official that Portal 2 will be seeing another piece of downloadable content in early 2012 that lets you design and share your own created test chambers.
According to Valve, the new map editor will be incredibly simple to use and will allow players to create both single player and co-op maps to share with the Portal 2 community. In theory, this should create a LittleBigPlanet-esque community for Portal 2 players.
While Valve hasn’t confirmed it just yet, we’re assuming this new map editor DLC will be available for all platforms that Portal 2 released on. So until we hear otherwise, expect this downloadable content to hit Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac early next year.
And finally, here’s a image of how the map editor works. It looks simple enough, doesn’t it? You have the map on the left and all the possible items you can put in it on the right….Go!
