The Wachowskis Go Back to Sci-Fi with ‘Jupiter Ascending’

It's going to be a ball! A giant ball! ...Of gas?

The somewhere off in the periphery, the Wachowskis – Larry and Lana – have apparently been shooting Cloud Atlas, an ambitious drama taking place at various points in time. This is not why we see Wachowski movies, but we wish them luck. We're a little more encouraged by their next project though: Jupiter Ascending, an original sci-fi action movie to be written and the directed by the popular filmmaking duo, which will be brought to you by Warner Bros.

That's pretty much all we know. Still qualifies as news though.

Deadline broke the story, and also revealed what's been taking the Wachowski siblings so long to return to sci-fi: they've been busy shopping around a screenplay about a gay U.S. soldier having a relationship with an Iraqi. Somehow, they weren't able to secure financing for that one. We are not surprised, although the idea of the Wachowskis making a masculine, warbound version of Bound is certainly an intriguing one.

CraveOnline will return with more Jupiter Ascending news provided they remember that all these worlds are theirs… except Europa.
