EA Sports Revives NFL Blitz

Welcome back to a man’s version of football, where there’s no such thing as pass interference.

Holy crap, this is really happening. EA Sports has announced that developer EA Tiburon (the makers of Madden) are bringing back the NFL Blitz franchise, complete with the NFL license, as the name implies. This will be the first NFL Blitz title in eight years, the last being 2003’s NFL Blitz: Pro.

NFL Blitz (2012), as we’re going to tentatively title it, will be a downloadable game for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, and will retail for $14.99 (1200 MS Points). This new version of Blitz will come with commentary from NBA Jam commentator Tim Kitzrow, as well as new modes like Blitz Gauntlet and Big Head mode. Rosters will even be fully customizable.

The NFL Blitz franchise and I go way back, as I’m sure that’s the case for many gamers and football fans. Hopefully, this new version of Blitz will be a true return to form for the franchise.

NFL Blitz (2012) will be launching on January 3, 2011 for Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. You can learn more about the game over at EGM
