Watch the ‘Phantom Menace 3D’ Trailer Before ‘Three Musketeers’

Like we needed less incentive to see it...

Oh hey, remember when they announced that Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace was being converted to 3D? Yeah, we repressed that memory too. But burying your head in the sand won't change the fact that it's happening, and coming to theaters on February 10th, 2012. Granted, if any movie could use an extra dimension it's The Phantom Menace, but technically speaking that would only bring it up to 2D. Oh well. If you really do still care (why?), you'll catch your first glimpse of the 3D debacle in a new trailer premiering in front of The Three Musketeers, out in theaters on October 21st. USA Today made the announcement.

If you'll remember, the re-releases of the original Star Wars trilogy in the late 1990s were what we call in Western Civilization "a big deal." Yeah, we had to suffer through the Special Edition nonsense, which even the most defensive fans would probably call unnecessary, but the thrill of seeing such beloved movies on the big screen again – and in many cases the very first time – was impossible to resist. Somehow we doubt The Phantom Menace, 3D or no 3D, is going to have the same phenomenal impact. Time has not been kind, and you'd be hard pressed to find any kids who went gaga for Episode 1 the way any younglings did for A New Hope.

What do you think? Are you more likely or less likely to see The Three Musketeers now? Do you give a crap at all about The Phantom Menace?

CraveOnline will be back with more Phantom Menace news after we refuel our bongo.
