Many will miss the cheeky fun of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but DC is not one to go very long without having Batman available in some kind of animated form. Hence, the new announcement that a show entitled Beware the Batman will be arriving on Cartoon Network in 2013, joining current hit program Young Justice and the upcoming Green Lantern: The Animated Series as part of a "DC Nation" block of shows. Also fitting in this mix will be a handful of new animated superhero shorts featuring Plastic Man, Doom Patrol, Batgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Girl.
The new Batman series will certainly change things up, as you can see in the image shown at the MIP Junior conference in France where this announcement was made. Not only will Alfred be out and about mixing it up with guns, or so it seems, but Batman's sidekick this time around will be none other than Katana, who is said to be "not necessarily" his new Robin.
The show also promises to get a lot weirder and more obscure with the deepest rogues gallery in all of comics, bringing out some weird Grant Morrison creations like Professor Pyg and the Circus of the Strange.
“We went in deeper into the villain library and pulled out some other villains,” said Sam Register, Executive VP of Creative Affairs for Warner Bros. Animation. “We didn’t want to do another Joker story — there’s too many of them. We just needed to do something new, so we’re starting off with new villains.”
Also, all you bronys out there get excited, because the creator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is going to be putting Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl together in shorts entitled Super Best Friends Forever.
