Last month, filming began in Atlanta for the highly anticipated second season of AMC's zombie drama, "The Walking Dead." Based on the hit comic created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, the series was an immediate hit for AMC and one of the most watched cable programs last fall.
For season two, Kirkman is officially joining the writing staff alongside executive producer, Frank Darabont, Glen Mazzara and other writers. Thus far, most of the plot details have been kept under wraps, but AMC has released a new video of Kirkman's behind-the-scenes tour of the set; in which the author has a little fun with the zombiefied extras.
Among the few details publicly confirmed for the second season, Scott Wilson and Lauren Cohan have joined the cast of "The Walking Dead" as a farmer named Hershel Greene and his daughter, Maggie. Pruitt Taylor Vince will portray Hershel's farmhand, Otis and several episodes are likely to be set at Hershel's farm.
The core cast of Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Steven Yeun and Chandler Riggs will all be back for year 2. Long time "Walking Dead" fans should know that EVERYONE is expendable on this show; which means that the lineup might change by the end of the season.
"The Walking Dead" is expected to premiere its second season in October with 13 new episodes.
