Just days after signing Lucy Punch to portray Deena Pilgrim, FX has announced its choice for Christian Walker in "Powers."

Jason Patric has officially agreed to play Walker in the upcoming adaptation of "Powers," based on the hit comic book series created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. "Powers" follows Detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim as they investigate homicides and other crimes related to people with superhuman abilities, who are called "powers" within the world of the show.

Walker is also a former superhero, who is attempting to reinvent himself now that he no longer has powers of his own.

"We've been asked repeatedly why it has taken so long to bring our series adaptation of 'Powers' to fruition. It is for the same reason we cast Jason Patric in this role; we are aiming for something extraordinary,” explained FX President, John Landgraf. “The lead role of Detective Christian Walker is an extremely layered character and we needed Jason, who was so brilliant in films like Narc and Rush, to bring him fully to life. He is pitch perfect for this role and we are honored that he chose FX for his first foray into episodic television."

While "Powers" will be Patric's first starring role on TV, it won'f be his first comic book role. Patric previously appeared in the film adaptation of "The Losers" as the main villain, Max. Prior to that, Patric starred in "Narc," "The Lost Boys," "Speed 2: Cruise Control," "Sleepers," "The Alamo" and "In the Valley of Elah."

Charles S. Dutton ("Roc") costars in "Powers" as Walker and Pilgrim’s boss, Captain Cross, with Bailee Madison ("Just Go With It") as a ten year old girl named Calista, who becomes a major part of Walker’s life.

The "Powers" pilot will be directed by Michael Dinner ("Justified") and it was written by former "Walking Dead" executive producer, Charles H. Eglee. Production of the pilot episode is expected to begin next month in Chicago.
