Sarah Connor is going bad.
Lena Headey has been signed to portray Madeline Madrigal in "Dredd," according to a report on Judge Dredd Movie News (via Bleeding Cool). Although the report hasn’t yet been confirmed, the site has consistently landed early scoops from the set of "Dread."
Headey’s character is better known as "Ma-Ma" and is apparently the main villain of the film as well as the leader of a gang that controls the Peach Tree City Block in Mega City One; where most of the film’s action is said to take place.
Although perhaps best known for her starring turn in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," Headey has also appeared as Queen Gorgo in "300" and she is also co-starring HBO’s upcoming fantasy series, "Game of Thrones."
"Dredd" is a new adaptation of the popular "Judge Dredd" comic book series, which was created in 1977 by John Wagner, Carlos Ezquerra and Pat Mills. Primarily told in serials appearing in the comic magazine "2000 A.D.," "Judge Dredd" takes place in a future in which the powers of the police, juries and executioners are given to enforcers known as "Judges."
Karl Urban is starring in the title role of this new incarnation, with Olivia Thirlby as Judge Anderson, a rookie judge that accompanies Dredd throughout the film.
Director Pete Travis is helming "Dredd" from a script by screenwriter Alex Garland. The film co-stars Jason Cope, Langley Kirkwood, Kevon Kane, Joe Vaz, Scott Sparrow, Luke Tyler, Travis Snyders and Martin Kintu.
The new "Dredd" will be released in 3D in 2012.
