Remedy Revives Death Rally

Before they created the Max Payne series and Alan Wake, Remedy’s first title was a little arcade racer for PC way back in 1996 called Death Rally.

Death Rally was a top-down view racer that featured cars with guns mounted to them. The objective of the game was to race, win money and eventually defeat the Adversary, the undisputed champ of Death Rally. Nothing very elaborate, wouldn’t you say.

Now Remedy is reviving Death Rally, developing a game exclusively for iPhone and iPad that’s set to release in March 2011.

Maybe this is Remedy’s attempt to recoup some of that money spent on the five-year-in-development Alan Wake. iDevice games can be relatively simple development affairs — if you want them to be — that don’t necessarily gut the piggy bank. If Death Rally is a success for Remedy, hopefully the revenue generated will help motivate them to get back on the horse with developing the much needed Alan Wake sequel.
