The Rockstar Games and Team Bondi collaboration, L.A. Noire, now has an official release date of May 17 in North America and May 20 in Europe for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Mark thy calendars!
With the official launch date announcement, Rockstar has also released a new trailer for L.A. Noire. Once again, we are wowed. Consider L.A. Noire to be one of our most anticipated titles of 2011.
There’s a serial killer stalking women in L.A., what else is new?
For those who don’t know, L.A. Noire is a crime drama set in post-war Los Angeles that “blends crime-solving, clue-finding, car chases and shoot-outs with revolutionary new interrogation-based gameplay that will allow players to read characters’ emotions in order to reveal the truth.”
In L.A. Noire you play as Cole Phelps, a WWII vet who has risen through the ranks of the LAPD and comes face-to-face with the dark heart of L.A. during Hollywood’s Golden Age.
The game incorporates an incredible new camera capture technology that uses 32 high-definition cameras to perfectly recreate human facial expressions, ticks and mannerisms. This new technology allows Team Bondi and Rockstar to create a game where the player must “read” suspects to determine if they are lying or not. It wasn’t long ago that Rockstar released a developer documentary highlight the new capture technology. It blew our minds.
