Javier Bardem Offered Major Role in 'Bond 23'

Javier Bardem’s winning streak continued this weekend: after the birth of his first child, an Academy Award nomination for Biutiful and an offer to star in Ron Howard’s The Dark Tower franchise, Deadline is reporting that the No Country For Old man has officially been offered a major role in Sam Mendes’ still-untitled Bond 23. So far the details of the part are for his eyes only, but major roles in Bond films tend to be either villains (he’d make a great Scaramanga), sexy love interests (let’s not rule it out entirely) and Moneypenny. Hey, they already broke the gender barrier when they cast Judi Dench as M. Maybe a male Moneypenny is just the shot in the arm the character needs. He’d probably impress the living daylights out of us.

Javier Bardem is pretty much being offered the world over the last week and or so, but is it enough? He has yet to make an official decision, and there’s no telling if accepting the Bond role would preclude Bardem’s involvement in The Dark Tower or vice versa. Heck, he may even choose to live and let these both these offers die in order to focus on his family right now. Of course, the fans would love for him to make the time for all these parts. After all, you only live twice. Also… Moonraker for some reason.
