Once upon a time there was an incredibly attractive actress named Famke Janssen. After years of appearing as villainous Bond Girls and eventually villainous X-Persons, she was one day cast as the villain in Paramount’s upcoming film Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. And then… Um… She probably made that movie. I guess maybe we should leave the storytelling to the professionals.
Famke Janssen has accepted the pretty sweet villain role in Tommy Wirkola’s upcoming action-comedy Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. In the film, two time Academy Award-nominee Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and fellow former Bond girl Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace) play the ill-fated lost tykes, years after their traumatizing, near-caramelizing experience. Now they’re professional witch hunters, which is a good thing because Janssen will play a professional witch. Hollywood Reporter had the story.
Tommy Wirkola first cooked up trouble with his Nazi Zombie comedy Dead Snow. (Are there any other kind of Nazis these days? Or zombies?) We think he’s got the chops for this: after all, that Evil Dead-inspired gore-a-thon is much more enjoyable while baked. Here’s hoping this next fantasy-themed action romp’s prospect are less grim than, well… the fantasy themed action romp The Brother’s Grimm.
