Green_Day_Stay_The_NightFrom inception to opening night, the new documentary Broadway Idiot offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the journey of the hard-rocking musical American Idiot, based on the song catalogue of Green Day.

In the official trailer for the upcoming doc (premiering at SXSW in March) it’s immediately apparent that the film will not be lacking in candid interviews and previously unseen peeks behind the punk rock curtain. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong (who briefly starred in American Idiot on three separate occasions) appears to take center stage in the doc, although keep your eyes peeled for appearances from Broadway alums including Tony winner John Gallagher Jr. and veteran director Michael Mayer.

It's one of two Green Day films screening at SXSW, along with the band's other documentary, ¡Cuatro!  That movie, which premiered at this year's Winter X Games, follows the band during the writing and recording of their recent album trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre!
