At the tail end of Weekend 1 of Coachella 2012, the 75,000 or so attendees at the sold-out two-weekend fest took a collective leap into the future with a holographic showcase of the late Tupac Shakur during Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's headlining set at the festival.

With a hits-dripping set packed with guests from Eminem to 50 Cent, Warren G to Kurupt and beyond, Snoop and Dre leveled expectations and kept the energy on eleven throughout a festival-closing performance that featured no less than two hundred references to getting high, f*cked up or otherwise inebriated – much to the crowd's enraptured celebration.

The reaction to Tupac's visage – cutting-edge technology rumored to cost in the double-digit millions – ranged from astonished excitement to cynical dissection of the technique, but the tone was pure awe as the resurrected 2Pac prowled the stage and actually interacted with the crowd as he performed "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" and traded verses with Snoop on "Gangsta Party."

Additionally, check out footage of Eminem and Dre doing "I Need a Doctor" and "Forgot About Dre":
