In their excitement to be a part of such an impressive lineup, reunited rockers Soundgarden let a major portion of the 2012 Download Festival's lineup last night on their Facebook page.
The Download bill, which is already being touted as the biggest UK lineup of 2012, has already been announced to include The Prodigy, Metallica (Performing their Black Album in its entirety) and a reformed Black Sabbath. Also included are Machine Head, You Me At Six, Tenacious D, Biffy Clyro, August Burns Red and UK Drum & Bass outfit Chase & Status.
After the site's announcement of the aforementioned bands, however, the image below was uploaded to Soundgarden’s Facebook page (and was quickly removed moments later) – it has since appeared on the official Download Festival website:
In other words, we'll also be seeing Trivium, Lamb Of God, a reformed Little Angels, and Devin Townsend Project on the bill.
As fans did a bit of freaking out over the band's slippage, festival booker Andy Copping was unusually silent on his Twitter account for a spell. Copping has since resumed his frenzied tweeting. Around the time of the leak the festival account said: “Fair to say that Download 2012 is going to be one intense ride.”
Live Nation have presented nine successful multi-day events since taking over the Donnington Park grounds in 2002. This year the Download Fest takes place on June 8-10. Pick up your tickets and find out more at the festival's official website.
