It's official: not only are the New Jersey Nets changing their name to the Brooklyn Nets on their impending move to the BK, but they've also made the unprecedented move of enlisting superstar rapper Jay-Z to lend a designing hand in their new jersey.

Rap mogul Jay-Z, co-founder of the clothing line Rocawear, is working with Nets brass and Adidas to design uniforms for the team when it moves into the under-construction Barclays Center in Brooklyn next year. Hova was in the house for the Monday announcement, but spent less than two minutes onstage for the event before disappearing in his black Maybach.

In addition to his Rocawear line, Jay has aligned himself with massive designers like Ralph Lauren in recent years, and his Life + Times website centers on all facets of life, including lifestyle and fashion.

Jay-Z will also open the Barclay's Center Arena with several September 2012 shows to kick off the venue's life.
