LCD Soundsystem does really love New York as the un-retired dance punk rockers have just been announced as the musical guests for the May 6 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” hosted by Chris Pine.

For some reason only known to SNL producer Lorne Michaels, the quintessential New York band has never played the late night variety show.

LCD Soundsystem just finished a five show residency to open Williamsburg’s new music venue, Brooklyn Steel, where they debuted new songs (off their supposed upcoming album) entitled “Tonight,” “Call Police,” and “American Dream” that will most likely show up on their SNL appearance. Can’t wait.
