Reviving old TV shows from the ’90s and even 2000s (we didn’t have an abbreviation for that one?) is all the rage these days. Whether it’s networks desperately clinging to their heydays by renewing old hits or the willingness of actors from said hits to come back for more despite interest in them doing so, we apparently can’t get enough of the good ol’ days. But the problem with nostalgia is that it doesn’t always live up to the hype.
Hulu Revives TGIF This September In The Best Possible Way
Enter Hulu, which has come up with a surefire method of making sure you aren’t disappointed when reveling in the past: just acquire the rights to the reruns. And that’s exactly what they’ve done with the classic TGIF lineup from our youths. All your old favorites will be there, including Full House, Step By Step, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, and even Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper. And best of all, they come with none of the baggage of reviving a series and getting depressed by how old and/or fat everyone has gotten.
I mean, just look at all that ’90s hijinks. No way you could just repackage it into a modern setting and expect it to still work. These shows were a product of the time, and that’s where they’re best left. Thankfully, once Hulu debuts them all this coming September 29th, it will feel as though you never left your couch all those decades ago.
