Awful new rules.

Listen, golf is terrible and probably one of the most boring sports on the planet. So you would think that that the folks in charge of the LGPA would be all for anything that gets more people watching, and Paige Spiranac would be a reason to watch. But you can forget about seeing her look her best because the LPGA have just introduced a very strict dress code.

While Spiranac does not have a spot on the LPGA tour she did recently speak out about their decision to bring in a dress code that is pretty baffling. Some of the new rules, you ask? Well, you aren’t allowed to wear leggings unless under a skirt or short and you aren’t allowed to wear jogging bottoms. Oh, and ‘plunging necklines’ are banned, so that means no showing off your goods.

Here’s what Spiranac had to say to Fortune.

“Take the vague banning of ‘plunging necklines.’

“What constitutes a plunging neckline? Most likely, this edict was put into place to eliminate the presence of cleavage. In that case, a curvier, fuller-figured woman would be chided and fined far more often than a woman with a smaller bust. In a world where women are continually and unwantedly sexualized, this new rule serves as yet another reason for women to feel ashamed of their bodies, and a reminder that to be respected, they must alter their behavior because of outside perception.

If professionalism in golf equals athleticism, then athleticism should be promoted and showcased, and that means allowing the clothes that promote it. By labeling women as looking “unprofessional” when showing cleavage or shorts worn under a skirt, the LPGA is perpetrating the outdated stereotypes about the connection between what a woman wears and her morals, as well as insinuating that women do not have control over the perception of their bodies, but rather that they must bend to the every whim of the male gaze.”

I may not go down in history as the best female golfer to ever play, however my intent is to do whatever I can to grow the game.”

Golf has once again crap the bed. But that’s totally fine, because while we were never going to tune in to watch that sport we will always tune in to Spiranac’s Instagram. Let’s do that now, folks.
