Nicole Beharie is an American television and film actress. She is best known for her role as Abbie Mills on the FOX network's "Sleepy Hollow," as well as Jackie Robinson's wife, Rachel, in the biopic "42."
Nicole Beharie (born Nicole Browne) came into the world on January 3, 1985 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Due to her father being an active member of the foreign service, she moved from place to place growing up, living in such locations as Georgia, Nigeria, Panama, London, Washington, DC, and South Carolina. Although she spent most of her high school years at Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina, she wound up graduating in Greenville from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities in 2003. From there, she went off to the Juilliard School of the performing arts.
Nicole was such a talented young actress that it didn't even take her entire duration at Juilliard to begin landing roles in feature films. After being awarded both a Shakespeare scholarship which lead her to trained in England and the Robin Williams Scholarship which covered her tuition over the last two years of her college tenure, she couldn't even attend her own graduation in 2007 due to her shooting schedule on "The Express," a film based on the first African-American Heisman Trophy winner. Of course, she could hardly complain.
After her first two feature film roles in the aforementioned "The Express" and "American Violet" in 2008, Nicole's acting career cooled off slightly before picking up again in a big way in 2011, when she starred in two more features and guested for a two-episode stint on CBS' "The Good Wife." Since then, she has starred in such blockbusters as "42" based on the career of Jackie Robinson and also landed her first starring role on a TV series, FOX's "Sleepy Hollow."
