Monica was raised Jewish and also has a brother. I call myself a Jewminican (latina.com). As a child, Monica was playing piano by the age of four and during her bat mitzvah, her father noticed she did an impromptu vocal performance (tv.com).
Monica Raymund said, My mom, being Dominican, always played Merengue and Salsa in the house, especially when we were cookingso I grew up loving music and foodwe Latinas can be very passionate women and so when my parents saw that I had a calling for the performing arts, they supported it and encouraged me to continue exploring the craft.
Of her heritage, Monica Raymund said, I absolutely love that I am a mixed woman half Latin, half American Jewish. I grew up in such a racially diverse family that it really inspired me to embrace both cultures.
After Monica Raymund graduated from Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg, she attended the Juilliard School in New York City. While there, she performed in Cymbeline, The Diviners and Animal Farm. She won the John Houseman Award for Commitment and Dedication to the Development of Young American Actors.

Monica Raymund has appeared in the 200th episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a strip search prank call victim. From 2009 to 2011, she appeared in the Fox television show Lie to Me. During this time she became a founding member of The Mechanical Theatre Group, (a non-profit company dedicated to new and current work that speaks to our generation) and has been on faculty and co-head of the Communications Department at the Heifetz Institute.
Since then, shes had a recurring role on the CBS drama The Good Wife, and in 2012, she was cast in the NBC series Chicago Fire.

Her advice to other actors starting out is Dont be afraid to fail. For the love of God, dont be afraid to fail because youre going to fail. So try to fail as hard as you can is what I would say, because youre always going to get up and youre going to learn something from it (backstage.com).
When not acting, Monica Raymund also enjoys bike riding, and has trained for the Malibu Triathlon. She splits her time between Los Angeles and New York City.
