There will be a myriad of captivating dramas created south of the border taking over the Global network this fall – five new series are getting buzz following their line-up announcement.

Here are the biggest debut shows hitting Global:

Elementary – Starring Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu and Aidan Quinn, the program is a modern-day take on Sherlock Holmes, with a New York detective fresh out of rehab living with his worst nightmare – sober coach Dr. Joan Watson. Holmes’s unsurpassed skills of deduction and Watson’s medical expertise come together to create a dream team for solving the NYPD’s most impossible cases.

Vegas – A star-studded cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis and Carrie-Anne Moss, "Vegas" is based on the true story of former Las Vegas Sheriff Ralph Lamb, a fourth generation rancher tasked with bringing order to Las Vegas in the 1960s.

Last Resort – Featuring Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman, this is the complicated tale of a ballistic missile submarine crew who go against their orders and become rogue enemies of their own country, forcing them to flee to an exotic island and survive there.

Chicago Fire – Chicago firefighters and their professional as well as their personal lives are profiled in this action-packed show and are played by Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer and Eamonn Walker.

It's these heavy-hitting dramas that will be the continued success of Global, officials said. "We really think that that's a core strength for us," said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President of Content at Shaw Media (according to the Canadian Press). "We bought a lot but we bought smartly and we bought in ways that we can use really effectively on the schedule. That's the winning combination."
