The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) is hosting a three-day event in Toronto from June 23-25, and while slews of Bollywood actors are making their way into town, probably the most noteworthy are the three generations of the Kapoor family.
Amongst the visiting Kapoors are Neetu, Rajiv, Randhir, and Rishi, as well as brothers Bobby and Sunny Deol and their father Dharmendra – they will all be performing together for the first time.
Other Bollywood heavyweights who are supposed to be traveling to Toronto include Anil Kapoor (of "Slumdog Millionaire" fame), Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty (who appeared on "Indian Idol" as a guest judge in 2004 as well as on a celeb version of "Big Brother" in the UK several years later), Karan Johar, Bipasha Basu, and Mallika Sherawat.
The IIFA has scheduled a variety of events, such as a fashion show, film festival, music workshop, business forums, and an awards show. It's the first time that the IIFA has brought their annual event to North America (however it's the 12th year of festivities). The International Indian Film Academy is a first-of-its-kind effort to promote Indian cinema globally, thus reaching out to millions of its fans. This pioneering effort is spearheaded by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and celebrates the milestones of Indian cinema and the IIFA in an effort to propel Indian cinema beyond its country's shores and bring it into the global spotlight.
The pre-show airs live June 25 on OMNI, while the Floriana IIFA Awards will be broadcast live via pay-per-view. Visit www.iifa.com for more info.
