Once, not so long ago, the Superman and Lois Lane of the previous Post-Crisis timelane came to the New 52 Earth to raise their son, Jonathan, and to survive under the radar of Earth’s Greatest heroes. Then the Superman of this Earth died, forcing the real Man of Steel to take his place. While the Kents have adapted to their new reality, nothing prepared them for the fake Clark Kent waiting for them in Metropolis. The fake Clark was more than he seemed. In last week’s Action Comics #975, Mr. Mxyzptlk revealed that he was the fake Clark, and he punished the Last Son of Krypton by wiping Jonathan Kent from reality and making Lois forget that she even had a son!
CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for Superman # 19 revisits the moment that Jonathan faded away, as we see what happened next. In the present, Clark begs Mxyzptlk to return, but he may not like the new and dangerous attitude of his old adversary. Mxyzptlk may have been a nuisance before, but now he’s out for revenge and clearly beyond the Man of Steel’s ability to defeat.
This issue was written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, with art by Gleason and Mick Gray. The main cover was by Gleason, while Gary Frank provided the open order variant cover. Here’s the official description from DC Comics:
