Exclusive Preview |Marvel’s ‘Champions # 1.MU’

The Champions race to a protest to save innocent people from supervillains, but the monsters are coming to California!

In the wake of Civil War II, the young Avengers known as Spider-Man, Nova, and Ms. Marvel quit the team to form their own group: the Champions! Now joined with the young Cyclops from the past (don’t ask), the Totally Awesome Hulk (buy the trade), and Viv Vision (definitely buy the trade!), they aren’t a typical superhero team. They’re more of a movement, and the movement isn’t always in their control!

Because they aren’t tied to any other groups, the Champions are also more likely to respond to something like a protest against an oil company. And in this preview for Champions # 1.MU, the team races into action when Roxxon Oil prepares to unleash the supervillains known as the Freelancers on the unsuspecting protesters. But there are much bigger problems awaiting the Champions…or should we say giant problems? Monsters Unleashed is here, and now there’s invasion of giant monsters ready to take out the Champions and the Freelancers!

In CraveOnline’s exclusive preview for Champions # 1.MU, we see why the Freelancers are formidable foes and get a better idea of what it takes for the young heroes to come together.

Here’s Marvel’s description for Champions # 1.MU. Jeremy Whitley is the writer of the one-shot, and the art for this issue was drawn by Ro Stein and Ted Brandt with Frank D’Armata on colors.

A MONSTERS UNLEASHED TIE-IN! An endangered habitat! A peaceful protest! And a team of freelance troubleshooters determined to end the work-stoppage at any cost! Sounds like a job for the Champions, right? Only, nobody mentioned anything about GIANT MONSTERS FALLING FROM THE SKY!

Champions # 1.MU will be released on Wednesday, February 15 in comic stores everywhere.
